When The Mandalorian was released in the US, Star Wars fans around the world sat with bated breath, awaiting the stateside verdict via social media. The nations of the world expected to see some reviews, maybe even a few sly stills to give a flavour of what’s heading their way when Disney+ reaches their shores. What they certainly didn’t expect was a meme, and not just any meme – an extremely wholesome and heart-meltingly cute one.
No one was ready for Baby Yoda.
The internet, in all its well-intentioned eagerness, named the little sweetheart Baby Yoda. We now know that’s a misnomer, and even though the little fellow is of the same unknown species as Yoda, their correct name is The Child. Now, as we haven’t got Disney+ here in the UK until late-March, that’s about all we know. But that hasn’t stopped The Child becoming an overnight phenomenon.
Ahead of the Disney+ UK launch, there’s been a flood of The Child merchandise announced and released by Disney. Below, we’ve gathered up a selection of what’s on offer for your perusal.
