Just yesterday, word arrived that Jonah Hill had dropped out of contention for a role as one of the villains in The Batman opposite Robert Pattinson's title character. And already we have a replacement, as Paul Dano will play The Riddler.
The part of the villainous character, one of Batman's primary adversaries, was one that Hill had been considering, but now Dano will bring his take to a role that has previously been brought to life by the likes of Frank Gorshin, John Astin, John Glover and, on the big screen, Jim Carrey. Now we just hope Tommy Lee Jones doesn't join Matt Reeves' cast and is forced to sanction any buffoonery.
Right now, Reeves has Zoe Kravitz playing Catwoman in the film and Jeffrey Wright hotly tipped to be Commissioner Gordon. According to Deadline, the hunt is on for someone to play the Penguin, with Reeves originally looking to put Hill in that part, while the actor was more interested in the Riddler. The cameras will be rolling early next year in London, with a release date pencilled in for 25 June, 2021.
