We got a first glimpse of The Witcher's second season as part of the WitcherCon event, with the teaser trailer landing. A new, full trailer offers more action and more doom-laden portents of trouble for the characters – though Henry Cavill's Geralt isn't giving any truck to talk about the end of days...

Here's the official synopsis (spoiler warning if you're not caught up): "Convinced Yennefer’s (Anya Chalotra) life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan) to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

The skies are certainly darkening here with word of deepening conflict between the worlds of men and monsters, and there's also a chance to meet some new (old) faces.

The Witcher Season 2 launches on Netflix on 17 December. You can also find Empire's recent exclusive look at the new season right here.
