Cardiff-based production company Bad Wolf is behind some of the biggest TV series of recent years, from the BBC’s lavish His Dark Materials adaptation, to HBO’s gripping The Night Of. And now, the company – formed by some of the key players responsible for bringing Doctor Who back to the screen in 2005 – has an exciting new adaptation on its plate. Bad Wolf has optioned acclaimed hit memoir Coming Undone for an upcoming TV series, the book written by none other than – squints – Terri White. Yes, Terri ‘Editor-In-Chief of Empire Magazine’ White.

White’s memoir, published mere weeks ago, charts the disparity between her rising career in the magazine industry – prior to working for Empire, White edited Time Out in New York – and the spiralling mental health struggles she attempted to hold back that stemmed from an incredibly difficult childhood. It is – yes, we’re biased, and no, she didn’t write this story – a brilliant, unflinching, and deeply honest read. “Coming Undone is an exceptional, powerful memoir from the ferociously talented Terri White, and from the moment I read it I knew we were the right team to develop it,” says Bad Wolf’s Kate Crowther.

“To say I’m excited about working with Bad Wolf on an adaptation of Coming Undone is a gargantuan understatement,” says White. “Their reputation for producing bold, brave, brilliant telly makes them the perfect home for my book – one I wrote to try and give a voice to what so many of us experience in the shadows. That voice is set to get a lot louder.” Further details of the adaptation – including who will write, direct, and star in the show – are yet to be announced, and it’s currently unknown exactly how the Pilot TV podcast will attempt to review the series when the time comes.

With the deal still fresh, it’ll likely be a little while before the finished series hits the screen – stay tuned for more updates. A(n unofficial) statement from the Empire team reads: “We are incredibly proud of our glorious leader.”
