He’s played a rejected friend, a heroic diver, and a Gotham crime boss of late – but with new Apple TV+ series Sugar, Colin Farrell is stepping into the shiny shoes and sharp suit of a private investigator, looking into the disappearance of a famous movie producer’s granddaughter in Los Angeles. Watch the action-packed trailer below:

Sugar is clearly no ordinary private investigator, doing much more than snapping pictures from afar, getting caught up right in the middle of the action. Sugar's voiceover gives a noir-ish feel to the opening of the trailer, but the visuals are bleached in the sun of California – though that's sure to give way to a darker underbelly as the plot unravels and secrets are unearthed. Farrell is also on executive producer duty, and is joined in the cast by Succession’s James Cromwell – playing producer Jonathan Siegel, who hires Sugar – as well as The Office and Beau Is Afraid’s Amy Ryan and The Sandman star Kirby. This looks like a slick, stylish crime thriller to sink our teeth into, and we’re excited to see Farrell back in action mode. Anyone know how he takes his tea?

The first two episodes of Sugar arrive on Apple TV+ on 5 April.
