[Jamie Lee Curtis](http://Jamie Lee Curtis is mostly known for her work in front of the camera (she's currently filming game adaptation Borderlands though she also seems to be acting as unofficial set photographer), but she has also produced and directed projects. She's slipping on her producer's hat for an intriguing new prospect, bringing author Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta books to TV screens. Forensic pathologist Scarpetta has appeared in 25 crime thriller novels since her first appearance in Cornwall’s Postmortem back in 1990, with the latest, Autopsy, set to be released in December. It's all part of Curtis' first-look deal with the Blumhouse team, which she connected with via the most recent Halloween movie. Right now, the project is in the very early stages of development, and the search for a showrunner has kicked off. There's no word on whether Curtis plans to play Scarpetta or appear in the series at all yet. "Patricia Cornwell is a bonafide literary trailblazer, and collaborating with her to bring her beloved character Kay Scarpetta to life through the power of television and to introduce her to an entirely new audience is exciting," Curtis says. "The confluence of Blumhouse and Comet bringing to life a dark, fun and layered work world and family life, spearheaded by the smart and sexy indomitable Kay Scarpetta is going to be a thrilling ride." Cornwell also seems happy, per a statement: "I’ve had the honor and pleasure of knowing Jamie for a number of years, and have come to respect her hugely as an artist and a stellar human being. Blumhouse is a creative force of nature, and I’m confident that Scarpetta is going to make it to the screen in a fantastic way. To say I’m thrilled is an understatement, and I have no doubt my readers will feel the same.") is mostly known for her work in front of the camera (she's currently filming game adaptation Borderlands though she also seems to be acting as unofficial set photographer), but she has also produced and directed projects.
