Zac Efron Set For Footloose Musical

Does anybody know what Zac Efron's natural speaking voice sounds like? Seriously, you just can't stop the boy singing. Not that you'd particularly want to – he's very good at it. The star of High School Musical and its sequel, as well as the so-darn-perky-you-can't-help-but-love-it Hairspray has now signed for a musical remake of 1984s Footloose, with High School Musical director Kenny Ortega barking the orders to make those jazz hands more jazzy. Footloose has already been adapted into a Broadway stage musical.

The original film, best remembered for Kenny Loggins' persistent theme tune and Kevin Bacon's funny little kicky dance, told the inspirational tale of a group of teenagers who lived in a town where dancing was banned (?) but planned to put on a school prom any-damn-way. In your face, The Man!
