Wrong Turn 5 Trailer Slashes Online

Hallowe'en is still a month away, but following the recent new Texas Chainsaw trailer, here's news of the franchise's younger sibling / bastard offspring Wrong Turn. Fourth instalment Bloody Beginnings is only just arriving on these shores (described as "weapons grade shit" in a recent visit to Empire's Kim Newman's Video Dungeon), but the US is one instalment ahead of us. Here then, is the trailer for **Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines.

What's going on here? Well, this is a follow-on from Bloody Beginnings, so a sequel to a prequel, which we guess means that this is the first "adventure" for de facto series icon Three Finger and his cohorts since they escaped from the asylum. Here we're in a small West-Virginian town, holding its traditional mountain-man festival - "A wild night of music and mischief" - when the Hellbillies infiltrate to spoil everyone's fun and eat their eyeballs. Hate when that happens.

The director, for the third time, is Declan O'Brien, and the big news this time out, relatively speaking, is the presence of Doug "Pinhead" Bradley. Weirdly - or possibly deliberately - Wrong Turn 5 has almost the same subtitle as Hellraiser 4. There's no make-up required for Bradley here, but not much info available about who he is, other than some sort of villain called Maynard. He's in jail in the trailer, but he also says the kids are in "his house". Judging by the uniform we're going to say he's a corrupt lawman who the kids get the better of at some point. Probably temporarily.

The trailer's only 34 seconds long, but manages much in the way of violence and nudity, and has a peculiar fixation with bad things happening to people's fingers. "If this offends you, you're in the wrong fucking theatre," says Voiceover Man. If you're in a theatre at all, you must be very confused, since Wrong Turn 5 is heading straight to DVD. It's out in the States on October 23. Here? Later.
