Wanted 2 Has A New Writer

Wanted 2 could be a bit Pooh.

At least, that’s the obvious conclusion to draw from today’s news that Universal has hired Evan Spiliotopoulos, whose biggest credit to date is, erm, Pooh's Heffalump Movie, to write the sequel to last summer’s demented action blockbuster.

Now, we’re guessing that Spiliotopoulos is a much better writer than his CV suggests. And we suspect that he won’t be introducing bears who like honey and strange creatures whose tops are made out of rubber, and bottoms are made out of string to the movie, which will likely follow James McAvoy’s ace assassin, Wesley Gibson, as he copes with the fallout from the previous movie’s destruction of The Fraternity. But this is still a choice right out of leftfield.

Perhaps, though, he’ll find a way to wedge Angelina Jolie’s foxy Fox back in there… despite, y’know, her being dead and all.

Spiliotopoulos is replacing the first film’s writers, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, but the original director, Timur Bekmambetov, is still attached.
