Though pap snaps from the set would indicate that it’s actually been rolling for a while now, 20th Century Fox has just gotten around to announcing the start of the production of the Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. Yet there’s actual news contained too, as word arrives that Toby Kebbell and Enrique Murciano are part of the cast.

Their roles have not been specified, but they join a cast that includes Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Keri Russell, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer, who dons a performance capture suit to play Cornelia alongside Andy Serkis’ returning Caesar.

Set after the events in Rise, the new movie sees a growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth¹s dominant species.

Let Me In’s Matt Reeves is directing this one, working from a script by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Scott Z. Burns and Mark Bomback. Contrary to what the logo says above, the film is scheduled to hit here one day earlier, May 22 next year.
