Fresh off of winning plenty of acclaim at Sundance and scooping the Grand Prix Nespresso* handed out at the Cannes Critics Week, Michael Shannon-starring drama Take Shelter has pushed a new trailer out into the world and you can see it below.

Shelter finds Shannon on typically impressive form as Curtis LaForche, a young husband and father already busy with the demands of supporting his family, including wife Samantha (Jessica Chastain).

But then he starts to have terrifying visions and dreams of an apocalyptic series of storms and other, even more bizarre events and starts to worry for his future. Soon, Curtis is channelling all of his energy into rebuilding the tornado shelter on his home property, which slowly starts to drive a wedge between him and everyone he loves. Is he going mad? Or is he getting a warning about something truly horrific about to happen?

Take a look at the trailer and let us know what you think.

Written and directed by Jeff Nicols, Take Shelter is out in the US on October 7, but doesn’t have a set release date for here just yet. Fingers crossed it won’t take too long.

*We assume, given the sponsors, that the prize was a lot of those little coffee tub things. And was awarded by George Clooney.
