Since the end of his run on The Walking Dead, Steven Yeun has thrown himself into all sorts of projects, including Nope and Minari, which earned him a Best Actor Oscar nomination. We suppose it was only a matter of time before the mighty casting maw of Marvel came to call, and Deadline reports that Yeun is joining the ensemble of Thunderbolts.

No-one will be surprised to learn that Yeun's role is being key quiet, though the site's report mentions that not only is he significant in this film but appears likely to recur in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thunderbolts, which has Jake Schreier directing and Black Widow's Eric Pearson on script duty, will follow a team of not-quite heroes gathered by Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to carry out secret missions, with some fresh-faced kid called (checks notes) Harrison Ford also aboard as Thaddeus Ross.

The team so far includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster. The Bear's Ayo Edebiri also recently joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

Currently, the film is set for release on 26 July next year.
