What happens when you’re a young American lady who, along with your friends, wants nothing more than to enjoy the booze-fuelled hi-jinks of that oh-so-traditional ritual spring break? And what if you’ve no cash to fund this particular hedonistic holiday? Why, you resort to robbery of course! That’s just the start for Spring Breakers, which has just posted its first full trailer online. Take a look above.
With a cast that includes such sweet-natured Disney-level veterans as Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, you might expect something called Spring Breakers to feature the female leads funding their trip with a bake sale or – ooh, matron! – a bikini car wash. But this is Harmony Korine territory, and while bikinis are most certainly involved, it’s also a tale of madness, cash, sex, guns and gangsters.
That's because when our heroines are promptly arrested for their crime, they’re bailed by Alien (a dreadlocked James Franco) who has a soft spot for the gang. Oh, and he wants them to assassinate his main competitor…
