Smurfy news, everyone! The Smurf-tastic new trailer for The Smurfs has just Smurfed its way online and you can Smurf it out below!
This new, full promo adds little to the plot, but then, let’s face it: all you need to know is that the little blue bods somehow find their way into our world, must try to get back and avoid the evil wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria with a wacky nose), who wants nothing more than to steal their power. Oh, and if they keep to the original cartoon’s take on the story, eat them.
What it does do is showcase a few actual scenes from the movie, while giving Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays some screen time.
Our verdict? Based on this, The Smurfs is keeping to the seemingly strict formula for this sort of live-action/CG character family comedy blend – a sprinkling of pop culture references, some slang, plenty of slapstick and creatures confusing the hell out of humans. We don’t want to judge too early, but we have been burned before.** Yogi Bear**, we’d say we’re looking at you, but we don’t ever want to see you again.
