Good news today, as the Times BFI London Film Festival has announced the closing film for the Festival this year - and it's a doozy. Slumdog Millionaire, Danny Boyle's latest film, has already garnered enthusiastic buzz from its screening at the Telluride Film Festival, and London will host the European premiere.

The film is the story of a 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who finds himself one question away from winning 20 million rupees on India's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? But he is arrested for cheating, and tells the story of his life on the streets and the girl he loved and lost to the police.

Boyle will also be giving a career interview as part of the Tiscali Screen Talks series at the Festival, before seeing it out on a high note with the European premiere.

The full programme will be announced on September 10, and we'll bring it straight to you as soon as it's brought in.
