Today you can get a look in glorious Quicktime at David Van Ancken’s decidedly revisionist Western **Seraphim Falls. **Up until now this has been of most interest to film fans on this side of the pond for casting two of our biggest names - Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan - as veterans of the American Civil War.

We won’t give too much away, because it’s looking like the success of this film is going to hinge on some pretty spiffing cinematography. And if we told you that someone actually utters the phrase “A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do,” you might think less of it before you’ve seen it, so before we go any further, watch it here.

So what’ve we got? Some very familiar plot strains, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing – it seems to be, as we say, consciously revisionist (witness the John Ford homage of the door framing the shot, and closing), but you can bet your last silver dollar that there'll be a parable to our times - it’ll just depend on how well Van Ancken can sew it all in. And at the very least, you get Wes Studi in an odd hat.

There’s no set release date in the yet, but it opened in the States yesterday, so expect it to drop into the schedule sometime around March-ish.
