Scott Boys Present The Tell-Tale Heart

Here’s some reassuring news for those who were starting to worry about the Scott brothers’ film-making decisions of late. Following on from the disquieting news that Ridley is attached to making a Monopoly movie and Tony is helming a biopic about the bloke who invented the cigarette boat, they finally look set to return to their genre roots with a modern-day re-imagining of The Tell-Tale Heart.

Okay, they’re only attached to produce through their Scott Free production house but this re-boot of Edgar Allan Poe’s creepy tale of theft, murder and a ticker that won’t keep ticking will give the siblings a chance to revisit their The Hunger/Alien roots with what can only be a gothic-rific fright fest. However, as it's set to be directed by the less-than-experienced Michael Cuesta (he helmed a few episodes of ironic serial killer TV show Dexter) and scripted by, erm, Doom co-writer Dave Callaham, it seems likely the Scott boys will be keeping a tight hold of the creative reigns.

"'Tell-Tale is a psychological thriller that sets Poe's haunting tale against the backdrop of modern science," Scott Free president Michael Costigan told The Hollywood Reporter, and with the film’s tone likely to be a cross between Jacob's Ladder and Marathon Man, we reckon this is one to watch.

Shooting in scheduled to start in early 2008 and casting is under way, watch this space for new developments.
