She'll be back on our screens next month as Natasha Romanoff in Black Widow, but Scarlett Johansson has Disney plans outside of the MCU. According to Collider, she's on board to produce and possibly star in a movie adaptation of popular theme park attraction Tower Of Terror.

To give it its full title, The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror originally debuted at Disney World in Florida in 1994. Taking its inspiration (and using a Rod Serling sound-alike narrator) from the twisty TV series, the ride sends you dropping into a terrifying art deco hotel with a lift struck by lightning and all manner of spooky goodness.

Though Disney previously turned the ride into a TV movie back in 1997, Big Fish scriptwriter John August was hired in 2015 to work up a treatment for a big screen adventure. Toy Story 4's Josh Cooley is currently writing the script, with Johansson's These Pictures company hired to produce. It's not clear if she'll actually end up starring in the movie, but it could give her another big Disney role. And, of course, the Mouse House has a new potential Pirates-style franchise on its hands if the first movie works out.

No director has been hired for the project yet, but given that one Joe Dante created the pre-ride film, perhaps he could be given first dibs if he feels inclined?

Black Widow arrives in UK cinemas on 7 July, and in the US on 9 July. It'll also be available on Disney+ for the usual Premier Access fee. On the theme park adaptation front, Disney also has Jungle Cruise docking on 30 July.
