There's a new revenge thriller on the way, and – for he time being, at least – it's called The Prince. Up and coming screenwriter Dave Kalstein has sold his script to Intrepid pictures (who are also have a hand in 2007's Balls Of Fury and the remake of The Hitcher).
The story focuses around a young man who attends a posh school, until his rather mean classmates frame him as a terrorist. He's found guilty of planning a Columbine-like attack, and is sent to prison. When he gets out, he forges a new identity, gets back among his old peers, and exposes their wrong doings and/or kills them.
So, a guy gets framed for attempted murder, and gets his own back by committing murder? This had better be good…
Kalstein himself told the Hollywood Reporter "It's a modern-day Count Of Monte Cristo… part of what's enjoyable about the film is watching Paris Hilton and her type of crowd get what they deserve." Okay, now you've got our attention.
And to be fair, Kalstein has based the story on personal experience – not of killing socialites of course (security… security!), but of being kicked out of being kicked out of American prep schools. There's no director, cast or production schedule yet, but the petition to get Paris Hilton in the 'small but crucial role' of nasty girl starts here. After all, as House Of Wax proved, you can never see a useless social(paras)ite die in a movie too many times.
