Ray Stevenson, last seen killing half the Western world in Punisher: War Zone, has signed on to star in the post-apocalyptic thriller, Tribes Of October.

The British actor will play a New York detective caught up in a battle between the surviving members of the Mafia and the last remnants of the NYPD in a city that has become a desert outpost, ravaged by heat storms.

It’s a pretty decent cast, too, with James Caan on board as the Mafia head, while Robert Duvall makes it a Godfather reunion as the NYPD chief. Jaime King has signed on to play Stevenson’s love interest, while Stephen Moyer will play a cynical detective.

Philippe Martinez will produce and direct the $25 million film, which was written by Nick Vallelonga and Paul Sloan. Filming starts later this summer on a movie that we hope will give the likeable and talented Stevenson another shot at movie stardom.
