Just a few days ago, the latest batch of official pictures for Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Sam Catlin's adaptation of Preacher arrived online. With the series putting on a presentation at the SXSW festival, the airdate, for the US at least, has been announced as May 22.

Drawn from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s graphic novel series, the story is not for the faint of heart or gut. It's the sprawling tale of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a Texas reverend with a dark past and a deep love of John Wayne films who becomes bonded with a creature known as Genesis, the offspring of an angel and demon. The blend at times makes him as powerful as God Himself, but also gives him real problems.

As Jesse, his ex-girlfriend (and assassin) Tulip (Ruth Negga) and their new vampire friend Cassidy (Joe Gilgun) try to figure out why he has this power and why God appears to have forsaken his kingdom, they cross paths with saints, serial killers and many, many inbred weirdoes.

The date is a prime spot, showing real confidence from US network AMC, handing it a launch after the season two finale of Fear The Walking Dead before the show takes over Fear's slot on Sundays. AMC Global is listed as the UK carrier, but there's no official information about a date for it to show over here. Hopefully it'll follow the Walking Dead model and screen the day after each airing in the States.
