With talent competitions dominating the ratings of reality TV, Glee still popular and even Tom Cruise singing in Rock Of Ages, it’s not surprising that a film such as Pitch Perfect would exist. But from the looks of this first trailer, it would appear to offer a little bit more edge than some other titles out there.
The film finds Anna Kendrick as a young woman arriving at college who is approached to join the campus a capella group. Initially resistant, she’s caught singing in the shower and badgered into signing up. So begins a long-running battle with the college’s all-male singing group rivals as Kendrick and the squad try to update their routine.
But it’s not just the endlessly appealing Kendrick who looks to be stealing this one. Bridesmaids’ Rebel Wilson (who you might recall as one of Kristin Wiig’s annoying flatmates along with Matt Lucas) gets the lion's share of the good lines.
The rest of the cast also looks strong, with Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, John Michael Higgins and even Christopher Mintz-Plasse aboard. Pitch Perfect will be out on October 19.
