Pierce Brosnan Joins Mamma Mia!

Every time we read a story about the movie version of ABBA musical Mamma Mia!, we have to check the date. Everything about this movie seems like an April fool. First, that there are people who welcome this is weird. That Meryl Streep has already signed up is bizarre. And now, as if our nerves weren't shredded enough and our grip on reality sufficiently loose, Pierce Brosnan has joined the film. James Bond singing ABBA? We just don't recognise this world anymore!

Brosnan will play Sam, one of three men suspected of being the father of Streep's daughter, who is about to get married. Brosnan told Variety that he signed up because he couldn't refuse the opportunity to work with Streep. That, at least, makes perfect sense. The film will start shooting in London and Greece in June.

However, all hope is not lost for our world's sanity. Once Brosnan is done camping it up in Greece he'll be making a sequel to The Thomas Crown Affair. And then the world will tilt back onto its axis and we'll all be able to sleep sound in our beds. Be strong, dear readers, be strong. We'll get through this together.
