Dinosaurs are having a moment. It won’t have escaped Pixar’s notice that **Jurassic World **recently ate the global box office when they unleash their milder, gentler vertebrates on our screens later this year. The studio’s latest animation, The Good Dinosaur, has a new trailer to show its scaly wares. Click below to watch it.

The Good Dinosaur kicks off with the Far Side-y premise that the asteroid that killed off the dinosaurs missed Earth altogether. Instead, dino and humankind overlap in a scenario that would presumably suit peckish raptors down to the ground. Except, of course, this is a Pixar movie and gnawing and munching would be weird and out of place. Instead of frantically channelling their inner Owen Grady, the humans – one specifically, a boy called Spot (voiced by Jack Bright) – team up with giant beasts – one specifically, an Apatosaurus called Arlo (Raymond Ochoa) – for a buddy adventure across “a harsh and mysterious landscape”.

Arlo may be a 70-foot herbivore but he’s also a goofy, big-hearted teenager on a quest to restore peace to his home after a traumatic event. Spot is along to lend a willing hand.

Originally Up co-director Bob Peterson’s baby, the project ended in the lap of Pixar veteran but feature film debutant Peter Sohn. “The heart of the story remains the same,” he told The LA Times in November. "It's always been about this young dinosaur growing up. But the world itself has changed a lot. Nature has become a character.”

With Anna Paquin, Jeffrey Wright, Steve Zahn, A.J. Buckley, Sam Elliott and Marcus Scribner all lending their voices to the film, The Good Dinosaur lands in the UK on November 27.
