Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest, much anticipated film The Master hits US cinemas in October and the promotional campaign is definitely heating up. Yesterday brought a posterfor the movie and today delivers the latest trailer via Yahoo, which can be seen below.

The Master sees Joaquin Phoenix as Freddie Sutton, a man adrift after World War Two. Shaken and broken by what he has seen and done, Freddie is descending into booze and debauchery.

But he’s offered a chance at something else by the charismatic Lancaster Dodd (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and Freddie becomes his right-hand man, much to the concern of Dodd’s wife, Mary Sue (Amy Adams).

As Dodd’s faith-based organisation (which some have suggested is a prod at L Ron Hubbard’s Scientology) grows, rifts begin to develop between the volatile Freddie and the smart but secretive Lancaster.

This promises to be another intriguing Anderson piece, and hopefully lives up to the likes of **There Will Be Blood **and Magnolia.

There’s no word yet on when The Master will arrive on these shores.
