We shared some pictures from Orphanage director Juan Antonio Bayona’s **The Impossible in January, along with a link to the early trailer. Now a full length Spanish language promo has arrived online and can be watched below via Twitch.

The Impossible is set around the events of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami and is specifically based on the harrowing true-life experiences of one Spanish family. We’re introduced to Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor as the parents along with their brood of three boys on what looks to be an idyllically happy Thailand holiday.

But then they’re literally swept away and separated by the massive wave, and must try to reach each other in the chaotic aftermath.

While the teaser took more of a dream-like approach (without denying any of the horror), this new footage goes for even more of a punch to the gut, with the tsunami given the starring role in a series of harrowingly realistic recreations. It looks like it definitely won’t be an easy watch, but has more on its mind that simple destruction.

The Impossible will be released in Spain on October 12, but there’s no date for the UK yet.
