The red band trailer for Mark Wahlberg’s latest, **The Gambler **arrived a couple of weeks ago, full of F-words and serious threats to Wahlberg’s character. Now the standard-issue promo has landed, with less swearing and more Brie Larson.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Rupert Wyatt is behind the camera for this one, focusing on literary professor Jim Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), whose weakness for the cards tables lands him in deep with all kinds of people you really don’t want to be in deep with. As gangsters and John Goodman's loan shark circle, his family wonders how to tackle the crisis while Bennett appears ready to resort to extreme measures.

This second look at the remake shows more of the charming, vulnerable side of Wahlberg’s dark academic, a man who falls for Larson’s warm, tough student, a woman who has also seen the dark side of her professor’s life.

With William Monahan on script duty and Jessica Lange and Michael K. Williams co-starring, The Gambler will be out in the US on December 19 with one eye on an Oscar run, with the UK release around the same time.
