It's all the story of Malik (Tahar Rahim), a young French-Arab sentenced to six years in prison. Small, brittle and illiterate, it initially seems unlikely that he'll even survive his incarceration, but after falling in with a Corsican gang inside (France's answer to Sicily, we're saying), Malik's natural wit sees him rise to a position of power.
A Prophet is out in the UK on January 22.
