New Lorax Trailer Arrives

Clearly looking to keep all things cinematically Seussian in our minds since the film itself doesn’t hit until July, Universal has pumped out a second trailer for Dr Seuss’ The Lorax, which you can throw your eyes at below.

While there are some repeated chunks of footage to be found lurking in this longer promo, there’s also more of the story, which finds young Ted (Zac Efron) on a mission to track down what happened to all the trees that once flourished outside the plastic and metal town they live in.

His search brings him in contact with the Once-Ler (Ed Helms), who spins a cautionary tale about his own greed, chopping down the once-verdant forests to create his wildly popular thneed product. And about the crusty, cranky creature called The Lorax (Danny DeVito) who tried to protect his environment.

Now Ted and the object of his affection, Audrey (Taylor Swift) will have to try to find the Lorax and help the one remaining seed repopulate the forests – a task not helped by O’Hare (Rob Riggle), the rich business type that runs their town and really doesn’t want anyone to start longing for natural places…

Despicable Me’s Chris Renaud naturally had to add a fair amount to the plot to make the slim book work on screen, but we’re hopeful the essential Seuss-ness has not been lost.

Dr Seuss’ The Lorax will be out on July 27.
