New Dinner For Schmucks Trailer Arrives

Attention, all Steve Carell / Paul Rudd fans, because we have the latest trailer for their star-filled comedy extravaganza, Dinner For Shmucks, and it has extra unseen funny bits that you won’t have seen in the previous two teasers.

For those of you who aren’t in the Carell / Rudd / Schmucks loop, it’s the American remake of Francis Veber’s French comedy hit The Dinner Game (also known as Le Dîner De Cons, literally ‘The Dinner for Idiots’) and features such comedy talents as Zach Galifianakis, David Walliams, Jemaine Clement, Kristen Schaal, Bruce Greenwood, The Daily Show’s Larry Wilmore, Ron Livingston, Chris O’Dowd…

Loads of funny folk, basically. In this new trailer you get to see a bit more from Paul Rudd’s character’s ‘stalker’ (changed from a mistress in the French original) and a decent number of extra solo-Carell moments.

From what we can see, it’s going to be the Steve Carell show with assorted other bits of goonery from Galifianakis and Clement, but it hangs on whether the crazy Carell / straight man Rudd double act works.

Here’s hoping this can be added to the holy shortlist of good remakes of foreign films, but maybe we shouldn’t tempt fate. In fact, we almost definitely shouldn’t. Oh well, hey ho.

Dinner For Schmucks is out on August 20.
