Given that we’ve had to wait seven years since Alexander Payne last graced the cinema with Sideways, his return to the big screen as a director was always going to be a much-anticipated event. So thank goodness he’s back with the excellent The Descendants, which boasts a superb central performance from George Clooney. Check out the UK poster for the film below.
Descendants finds Clooney playing Matt King, a successful land baron whose skills don’t ever quite seem to extend to his family life. When his wife is left in a coma after a boating accident, he’s forced to deal full time with his two daughters, Alexandra (Shailene Woodley) and Scottie (Amara Miller). When Matt also discovers that his other half was in the midst of a torrid affair with another man (Matthew Lillard), his emotions are further upended and his life further complicated.
Co-written by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, The Descendants will be out on 27 January and is screening at the London Film Festival this week.
