Oh, dear… It looks like things really have gone to pot at Hogwarts' School of Witchcraft and Wizardry since Dumbledore took his fatal dive – someone has been smoking in the loos and now the entire place has been set on fire. Or perhaps it was a careless burst of flame from an over-enthusiastic demonstration? But no! We know the truth – the school is, of course, the big final battleground in the fight between good and evil that consumes both chunks of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
And this is definitely the most evocative poster that Warner Bros. has released so far for the series. No need for a group shot of the leads looking pensive, this pic of Hogwarts crumbling and burning says everything about the final two films that you need to know, along with that definitive “It all ends here” tagline.
Even more than the recent trailer, which we have taken apart here, this image has us anticipating the dark pleasure awaiting us when Part I is released on November 19 and Part II sweeps in on July 15, 2011.
