Simon Pegg has just informed us of two mixed pieces of news – yes, we name dropped, deal with it – about his upcoming slate.

In good news, he says that Greg Mottola, who directed the excellent Superbad, will be calling the shots on Paul, the upcoming movie written by Pegg and Nick Frost. Details on the script are minimal at the moment, but it is known that the story concerns the pair taking a road trip across America and, as Jessica Hynes let slip in our Comic-Con video diaries, the story will start at San Diego Comic-Con.

In bad news, Pegg will no longer be appearing in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards. Pegg was set to play a British officer, but scheduling difficulties mean that he has had to withdraw.

This concludes your Simon Pegg update.
