The Jim Henson Co. has set up a new stop-motion film called Monster Safari, about what happens when all the Earth's monsters come out of hiding - apart, we assume, from the collapse of the Weekly World News, National Enquirer and The Fortean Times.

It's based on a short film by the effects and production company Screen Novelties, led by Mark Caballero, Chris Finnegan and Seamus Walsh, and tells the story of two bumbling cryptozoologists who have to protect the newly emerged monsters from an evil big game hunter.

Craig Zobel and Matt Chapman will be writing the script, landing the gig after showing the Henson Company their original script Ron Planet. Let's hope the results are as good as other recent forays into stop-motion by Henry Selick and Aardman.
