Did you hear what happened when Woody Allen arrived in France as part of his cinematic tour of Europe? Mayhem! Riots in the streets! President Sarkozy declaring a national day of…. All right, so none of that actually happened. He just filmed his latest rom-com, Midnight in Paris. And now the trailer is online, embedded below for your staring pleasure.

Midnight follows engaged couple Rachel McAdams and Owen Wilson holidaying in Paris. When they run into her parents, they decide to hang out and spend some time.

But Wilson’s character, a writer, is restless. He doesn’t really warm to the people that McAdams knows (especially Michael Sheen’s patronising intellectual) and so starts wandering the streets. There, late one night, he runs into an interesting collection of people who actually know how to have fun, including Marion Cotillard. Cue misunderstandings, magic and mystery…

Take a gander at the trailer below and let us know your thoughts.

Midnight in Paris will screen at the Cannes Film Festival on May 11 and is then out in the US on May 20. There’s no word on a UK release date yet.
