Michel Gondry Talks Green Hornet

With all the rumours and counter-claims flying around about The Green Hornet, including the recent talk of 3D and studio issues, it was only a matter of time before someone got Michel Gondry to chime in with his thoughts on the matter.

That someone was Latino Review’s El Guapo, who chatted with the director about his new documentary Thorn In The Heart, and risked Death By Publicist to ask a couple of questions about Hornet and the recent updates.

According to Gondry, it was always his intention to shoot the film for 3D, and that the studio is 100% behind the movie. “If the film is not good, the studio will stop paying any money... Believe me, if they did not think the movie would be great they would stop spending any money on it. It's how big corporations work. They don't spend money to save a project, they spend money when they think they're going to get more money back."

Of course, you might expect him to say that, and while he tends to be forthright, he's still dealing with the complicated politics of a big studio film.

Meanwhile, Collider also broached the issue of 3D, but went into more detail about the elements of the film, like the “Kato-Vision” and his work with Tarantino regular editor Sally Menke on the movie. Check out the full interview on video, assuming you can make out what Gondry’s saying given that the audio makes him sounds like an asthmatic Dalek.
