Although we still await with anticipation the big screen outings of Pong and Duck Hunt, the plundering of video games for movie projects continues apace. Sony has just announced that they will turn the hit game franchise Metal Gear Solid into a film.

The Metal Gear games follow the missions of euphemistically named Solid Snake and his cohorts as they fight to bring down terrorists. Since the first game appeared in 1987, the franchise has sold over 20 million units.

Michael De Luca (Ghost Rider, Zathura) will produce the film.
