Melissa McCarthy and husband/occasional co-star/frequent collaborator/director Ben Falcone have worked up another comedy concept film for the actress to star in. She'll take the lead in Margie Claus.

The film, which Falcone will direct from a script he wrote alongside Damon Jones, is planned as a musical with family appear that New Line – backing the idea – is thinking could be in the spirit of perennial pic Elf, and, it hopes, enjoy the same level of success.

McCarthy will play the title character, who learns that her husband Santa has gone missing one Christmas Eve. Normally happy to stay at home, she has to put together an unlikely team to head out from the North Pole and come to his aid.

New Line wants this one in cinemas for November 2019. The next film from McCarthy and Falcone in college campus comedy Life Of The Party, hitting American screens on 11 May next year.
