Meek's Cutoff Trailer Rolls In

Don't get too excited, but Meek's Cutoff is a Western starring a nigh-on unrecognisable Michelle Williams, alongside Shirley Henderson, Zoe Kazan, Paul Dano and Will Patton, directed by indie stalwart Kelly Reichardt (of Old Joy and Wendy & Lucy fame).

These are the facts as we know them. Here are some more facts (as we know them): The plot revolves around a group of wagons in 1845 who decide to take a shortcut on their way to Willamette Valley.

The name of the shortcut? You guessed it, Meek's Cutoff. You're probably thinking there are some troubles along that shortcut, right? You guessed it again, right on the button.

As you can tell from the tone of the trailer below, it's not a rootin'-tootin' shoot-the-hats-off-your-head western, and more of a sombre, thinky indie drama, beautifully shot and wonderfully realised.

Okay, it's not The Dark Knight Rises here, but it's all good stuff. Check out the trailer below and let us know your thoughts in the comment box, why not?

**Meek's Cutoff **is out April 15.
