Lone Survivor is one of those passion projects that directors just can’t let go. The director in this case is Peter Berg, who has been trying to get the tragic true-life tale of a Navy SEAL mission gone terribly wrong on camera for years. Now he’s finally achieved it, and the trailer has arrived courtesy of Moviefone.

The film tells the harrowing true story of the four members of SEAL Team 10 – Marcus Luttrell (Mark Wahlberg), Mike Murphy (Taylor Kitsch), Danny Dietz (Emile Hirsch), and Matt Axelson (Ben Foster) – who, on June 28, 2005, were assigned to carry out Operation Red Wings.

Luttrell's team headed out to hunt down infamous Taliban leader Ahmad Shah along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. When they arrived, they discovered that he had a heavily armed force protecting him, and that was just the start of their problems. The mission was compromised, and three of the four men didn't return home.

It’s certainly not going to be an easy film to watch, and it appears Berg is going for gritty realism here. He’s certainly recruited a solid cast, with Eric Bana, Alexander Ludwig, Jerry Ferrara and Yousuf Azami also on board. Lone Survivor is out here on February 21 next year.
