We said last week that an announcement of which actress would fill the role of The Incredible Hulk's main squeeze, Betty Ross, was imminent and today The Hollywood Reporter, er, reported that it's to be Liv Tyler. Nice call Marvel.

In this attempt to forget that the, really not that bad, 2003 Hulk never happened, Bruce Banner (Edward Norton) has become estranged from winsome scientist Ross as he goes on the run to try and cure himself of his severe case of the green meanies. But the star-crossed lovers are thrown back together as the hunt for hulk hots up.

Tyler takes over the role from Jennifer Connelly and we must say it's an excellent choice. Connelly very much had the look of Betty Ross, but her take on the character was rather hard and distant. It's hard to imagine Tyler as either of those things and we expect her to bring some much needed tenderness to the beauty who tames the beast.

The Incredible Hulk is released in 2008, with Louis Letterier (The Transporter) directing from a script by Zak Penn (X-Men: The Last Stand)
