Latest Lone Ranger Trailer Online

Disney was the first studio to present its upcoming slate at CinemaCon on Wednesday, spotlighting the likes of the imminent** Iron Man 3**, Monsters University, Saving Mr Banks, a certain space opera series and all the future releases from Marvel, Pixar, and Disney’s own animation and live action departments. The big star of the show was The Lone Ranger, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski, plus stars Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp on hand to introduce a couple of clips plus the new trailer. Check out the promo below.

The extended clips for the film were also impressive, featuring – you guessed it – trains, but also giving us a proper glimpse of the film when it’s not at its frenzied full-on action tilt. We saw quieter moments between Hammer’s John Reid and Ruth Wilson as his sister-in-law Rebecca and also some good-natured sibling banter between John and older Ranger brother Dan (James Badge Dale). There was also a chance to watch John and Depp’s Tonto meeting for the first time and their interaction after the big tragedy that sets the plot into action and spurs John to become the Lone Ranger. Plus the most dangerous rabbits this side of** Monty Python And The Holy Grail**…

While we won’t say too much about what we saw, we will say that we came away feeling like this could well be the next big Disney franchise (no shocker coming from the Pirates team), with plenty of humour leavening the action and a few moments that let Depp do what he does best.

The Lone Ranger, which also features Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, Barry Pepper, William Fichtner, W. Earl Brown and James Frain, rides into our cinemas on August 9.
