Last Airbender Superbowl Spot Online

It’s been a while since we saw that first teaser trailer from M. Night Shyamalan’s adaptation of The Last Airbender. But now, with the Superbowl arriving this weekend across the pond, the filmmakers have whipped up another batch of footage to bring to the viewing party and it's online early.

If you were holding out for lots of character interaction and a proper explanation of the plot for those who’ve never seen the cartoon, keep walking: this is a quick spot designed to grab the attention of audiences soaked in beer and revved up for one of America’s biggest sporting traditions (or, at the very least, to appeal to any kids in the room and have them start begging their elders to take them to see the thing). So it’s all razzmatazz and no depth just yet.

We’re just a little concerned that it’ll be yet another tale of a chosen youngster weighed down with the notion that he’s the only warrior who can save his people. Which is a function of the cartoon’s story, of course, but not exactly thrilling. But what is present is a healthy dose of OTT action, which signals that Shyamalan might just have gotten a little bit loose and had a little more fun this time around.
