Keira Knightley and Colin Farrell have signed up for London Boulevard, the directorial debut from screenwriter William Monahan. He's the man behind Kingdom of Heaven, The Departed and Body of Lies, so let's hope he picked something up from Ridley Scott and Martin Scorsese.

The story sees a South London criminal called Mitchell (Farrell, hopefully with his own accent and not a Sarrff Lahndahn one) released from prison after serving three years for an assault he doesn't remember committing. He gets set up as a live-in handyman to a young actress (Knightley, we're guessing), but after tangling with a loan shark finds that he's pissing off half the people he meets and the rest are turning up dead.

It's based on the book by Ken Bruen, with Monahan adapting the script. The film will shoot this summer in London, after Farrell finishes work on The Way Back and Knightley makes Last Night and The Beautiful And Damned.
