Keef’s Not Quite A Pirate Yet

Keef's Not Quite A Pirate Yet

Despite what Associated Press has been spreading, legendary rocker Keith Richards is not yet confirmed for the role of Captain Jack Sparrow's father, in the third Pirates Of The Caribbean movie – but according to Johnny Depp at yesterday's Pirates 2 pres conference here in London "it's looking very, very good."

If you hadn't been told, or spotted the bleeding obvious by now, Depp modelled his Captain Jack mannerisms on Keef, adopting the line that pirates must have been the rock'n'roll stars of their time.

But alas, no dotted lines have yet been signed upon, and the casting of the Rolling Stones guitarist cannot yet be said to be onboard (see what we did there?). "We're all looking forward to the idea of Keith coming in and doing a cameo," said Depp, but added "You never say it's definite until the guy steps on the set and the camera is rolling."

Filming for Pirates 3 will resume next month, when the Pirates 2-promotion-induced hiatus winds up.
