If you find yourself in a cinema in December watching The Golden Compass and become distracted by a strange, but appealing, synthy wailing that sounds a little like humpbacks at karaoke, that'll be Kate Bush.

The much revered songstress will contribute a song to the soundtrack of the first movie in the Dark Materials series. She'll write and perform Lyra, the signature tune of the lead character, with the Magdalen College Choir, Oxford. The chosen choir is rather fitting given the setting of the movie.

Bush has previously contributed songs to Brazil, Cast Away and She's Having a Baby. She likes a broad church of movies, does Bush.
