Jon Heder Is One Of Three Men…

Jon Heder isn't resting on his laurels. We saw the Napoleon Dynamite star earlier this year duking it out with Billy Bob Thornton in School For Scoundrels. He's about to take to the ice with Will Ferrell in Blades Of Glory, has done voice work on the surfing penguin animation Surf's Up, turned in a bit of support work on Moving McAllister, and returned to geek territory in the forthcoming Mama's Boy. Well, now you can add one more to the list – he's going to co-produce and is set to star in a big screen adaptation of Nick Redfern's novel Three Men Seeking Monsters: Six Weeks In Pursuit Of Werewolves, Lake Monster, Giant Cats, Ghostly Devil Dogs, and Ape-Men. Our guess is they might shorten the title, which would be a shame.

The story, as it is in the novel, is about three 'retired' monster-chasers (who've all previously worked on their own), decide to unite on one final trek around Britain, visiting every single spot where monsters have allegedly been spotted. Now, we've not yet read Mr Refern's book, but it turns out that he's quite popular on the UFO-sighting lecture circuit, so whether his writing is intended to be comedic or not, we're still unsure (we'll get on the case). But if Heder's involved – and it's his production company, Greasy Entertainment, which he runs with brothers Doug and Dan, who are co-producing for Universal – then we would bet a lot of chips that the slant on the script will be, at the very least, 'quirky'.

It's very early days, though – there's no director attached (Jared Hess, anyone?), nor a screenwriter; it hasn't even been confirmed that Heder will star. Definitely one worth keeping an eye on, though.
