You'd think with fopping about on Pirates of the Carribean 3, Johnny Depp wouldn't have a huge amount of time for reading. But clearly Captain Jack has been swatting up in his downtime as he's just optioned three books to turn into movies.
The book rights have actually been bought by Graham King's Initial Entertainment for Depp's production company, Infinitum Nihil, to be produced for Warner Bros. But that's the businessy bit out of the way, what about the films themselves.
The first is Inomarata, a story set in 1920s Philadelphia concerning a Harvard grad who falls for a beautiful psychic whom he's trying to discredit as a fraud. Now, add a bit with a dog and an action montage and that's best story ever. The screenplay is being written by the author, Joseph Gangemi, and Peter Medak (Romeo is Bleeding) is in talks to direct.
The second is Affected Provincial's Companion, a gathering of diagrams, poetry and essays by Lord Breaulove Swells Whimsy on how to be a refined gentlemen in our dreadfully unrefined world. Now, you won't believe this, but Whimsy is not a real name, but the sobriquet of Victor Allen Crawford III. No, really. Now get back on your chair from whence you fell and we'll continue.
Lastly is The People's Act of Love, set in 1919 Siberia. The story tells of a man who escapes from a Russian prison camp who comes across a Christian sect. Hmmm, we prefer the story of the first and title of the second.
Infinitum Nihil would like to make it clear that Depp is not attached to star in any of the projects. He's not, alright. Leave it! Jeez.
