Poor old Jan De Bond could use a hit. Ever since Speed, one of the greatest action movies that ever whooshed onto screen, everything he's touched – The Haunting, Tomb Raider 2, Speed 2 (shiver) – has gone belly up. So, hopefully, John Cusack might be the man to save him.
Cusack has signed on to star in Stopping Power, De Bont's new project about a test pilot who chases an escaped thief to rescue his kidnapped daughter. The film is being written by Eric Red (Hitcher).
De Bont also Meg, a Jaws-like movie about a 70-foot prehistoric shark with a thirst for boats and helicopters, on his slate. Is it wrong that we're incredibly excited about that film?
