OK, it's now so late on Oscar night that it's become early again, so we're going to have to keep this short lest we fall asleep on our keyboard mid-sentence, but JJ Abrams has finally been confirmed as director of Star Trek XI, according to The Hollywood Reporter. For many months Abrams has been attached to the project, but he would never admit to anything more than a producing role.
Star Trek XI (still awaiting a name concerning wraths, voyages or journeys of something) will go back in time to a place two men have gone before: the early years of Spok and Kirk at Star Fleet Academy. No casting is yet in place.
